Sorting Game for Toddler
When my daughter was 13 month old I noticed that she liked to sort out all kinds of odd items. Sorting game is very intellectual activity and also developing hands and fine motor skills, which is very good for language development. For the first time it’s good to play with sea shells, apples and other fruits, or made sorting collection from toys.
Then our friend presented us a wonderful sorting game. Though on the box was written that it’s for 3 years old children, Sofia loved her from the first sight. No wonder:) It has so many items of different colors:)
WIth help of this game we easy learnt shapes and colors. Besides it’s very good activity because at first it takes some time and afforts to put items on sticks.
When playing sorting games, do not introduce two ideas at a time. e.g. stars and squares.
Today I’ve found some very interesting sorting game. I think I need to buy it because even i want to play with it when I’m looking at the picture. I’m sure that my daughter will love it too.
Sorting games are good because:
- This activity will help your toddler to find similarities and differences and learn to sort and classify objects.
- It also develop their language when they are describing how they are sorting the objects.
- It also encourages some independence in selecting their own reasons for sorting.
There is no need to wait till your child become 3 or 5 years old. You can start now from the simple tasks – sort out by color or shape. I’m sure after seeing result you’ll never regret.
